Ince, Ada
20 June 1878 – 24 May 1965

Ada Ince was born in Saltaire 20 June 1878, the youngest of eleven children to Christopher Ince and Mary Ann Rowe. They were married in 1856.

By 1881 the family were living at 18 Shirley Street in Saltaire. Christopher, who was a hawker, died 15 February 1890 aged 58. Widowed Mary Ann and her family continued to live in Shirley Street. In 1891 Ada was working as a spinner. By 1901 they were living at 47 George Street in Saltaire with Ada working as a cloth burler.

By 1911 Ada, and her mother, were living with her sister Emma and her husband, Thomas Brook, at 66 Exmouth Place in Bradford. Ada was a bath attendant. Ada’s mother, Mary Ann, died in 1920 aged 79.

Ada died, a spinster, 24 May 1965 at St Luke’s Hospital, Bradford aged 86. She had been living at 56 Victoria Road, Saltaire. Ada was the sister of Hannah Rose Ince.

 

Ince, Rose Hannah
29 May 1872 – 8 July 1933

Rose Hannah Ince was born in Saltaire 29 May 1872, the eighth of eleven children to Christopher Ince and Mary Ann Rowe. They were married in 1856.

By 1881 the family were living at 18 Shirley Street in Saltaire. Christopher, who was a hawker, died 15 February 1890 aged 58. Widowed Mary Ann and her family continued to live in Shirley Street. In 1891 Rose was working as a weaver.

Rose married Thomas Brotherton in 1897. By 1901 they were living without children at 15 Jane Street in Saltaire. Thomas was a railway signalman and Rose was a cotton piece picker. By 1911 they had moved to 24 Ida Mount, Stourton, near Leeds. They had two children; Norman born Saltaire c1902 & Lily born Saltaire c1904.

Rose died 8th July 1933, aged 61. At the time of her death her home was 39 Rhodes Street in Saltaire. Rose was the sister of Ada Ince.
