Greaves, Alice
1875 -????
Alice Greaves was born 1875 in Saltaire, the fourth of eleven children to Ernest Greaves & Lydia Wilcock. They married 31 October 1868 at St Wilfrid, Calverley. In 1881 they were living at 37 Whitlam Street in Saltaire with Ernest working as a spinner. By 1891 they were living at 10 Jane Street in Saltaire with Alice working as a winder.
Alice married Frederick Hugh Smith in 1898. They had four children; Howard born 1900, Donald born 1902, John born 1904 and Sadie born 1908. They lived at Portishead in Somerset with Frederick working as an architect & surveyor.
Frederick died 24 August 1934 leaving £234 (worth £15k in 2015) to Alice. Alice was the sister of Eliza Greaves and Martha Greaves.

1873 -????
Eliza Greaves was born 1873 in Saltaire, the third of eleven children to Ernest Greaves & Lydia Wilcock. They married 31 October 1868 at St Wilfrid, Calverley. In 1881 they were living at 37 Whitlam Street in Saltaire with Ernest working as a spinner. By 1891 they were living at 10 Jane Street in Saltaire with Eliza working as a wool comber.
Eliza was the sister of Alice Greaves and Martha Greaves.
[It is not clear what happened to Eliza after 1891.]

Greaves, Martha Emma
1871 - 1950
Martha Emma Greaves was born 1871 in Saltaire, the second oldest of eleven children to Ernest Greaves & Lydia Wilcock. They married 31 October 1868 at St Wilfrid, Calverley. In 1881 they were living at 37 Whitlam Street in Saltaire with Ernest working as a spinner. By 1891 they were living at 10 Jane Street in Saltaire with Martha working as a winder.
Martha married Thomas Lister Ogden, who was twenty years her senior, in 1898. They had a son, Albert Clement, born 1899. In 1901 they were living in Bingley with Thomas working as a wool merchant. Thomas died 25 March 1903 and he was buried at Utley cemetery in Keighley. He left £635 10s (worth £68k in 2015) in his will to Martha.
By 1911 widowed Martha was living at 16 Norwood Terrace in Shipley. Martha died in 1950.
Martha was the sister of Eliza Greaves and Alice Greaves.

Gresswell, Mary Ann
c1873 -????
Mary Ann Gresswell was born in Saltaire c1873, the third youngest of ten children to William Wood Gresswell and Betsey Kirk. They were married in Boston, Lincolnshire in 1855. From before 1881 until after 1901 they were living at 21 William Henry Street in Saltaire with William working as a tailor. In 1891 & 1901 Mary was working as a weaver.
Mary married William Alfred Powell in York in 1900. In 1901 they were living at 39 Micklegate in York. William, nine years older than Mary, was a hotel owner.
Mary Ann was the sister of Sarah Gresswell.

Sarah Gresswell was born in Saltaire c1875, the second youngest of ten children to William Wood Gresswell and Betsey Kirk. They were married in Boston, Lincolnshire in 1855.
From before 1881 until after 1901 they were living at 21 William Henry Street in Saltaire with William working as a tailor. In 1891 Sarah was working as a weaver.
Sarah married James Thompson in 1899. In 1901 they were living at 37 Salisbury Street in Shipley; James was a tailor. By 1911 they were living at Dent Cottage, Lower Wharfe Street in Shipley with two children; Edward born c1903 and Agnes Hilda born c1905.
Sarah was the sister of Mary Ann Gresswell.
