BACKYARD BLOOMING BIG PRIZE FOR THE BEST
Local, award winning architects Rance Booth and Smith are once again organising – and sponsoring – the Saltaire Backyard Competition.
The judge this year will be landscape architect Helen Taylor who, we are really informed (as a handy hint for Sentinel readers) will be looking for yards which "in her opinion, successfully create an attractive and useful space to residents and contribute to the Village as a whole." The competition is open to all Saltaire residents with backyards in the Conservation area as well as Rhodes Street, Maddocks Street, and Baker Street. Judging will take place in late July and all winners will be notified shortly afterwards.
1st prize £60 and a cup, 2nd prize £30, 3rd prize £20 Entry forms available from Rance Booth and Smith, 11 Victoria Road, Saltaire. Closing date for entries: 21 July 2006.

Both inside and out, the appearance of the venue is a credit to its World Heritage location and is sure to be appreciated by residents and visitors alike.
