BANDSTAND WILL BE BACK

Five of the six concerts organised by the Half-Moon Steering Group in Roberts Park this summer attracted audiences of  forty to well over a hundred. Only one, a performance by 'Gypsy', had to be cancelled as wet weather did not allow the rock band to set up. The Cricket Club and the Friends of Roberts Park both acquired much needed income, and the profile of the Half-Moon as a local cafe was enhanced. The artistes themselves, none of whom requested a fee, are due a big thank you for their efforts. They all enjoyed appreciative audiences, some locals turning up to every event.

The Half-Moon Steering Group will be drawing up a similar programme for  2007, when it is hoped that funding will be available to provide some cover for the performers. In the longer term, Sir Titus's bandstand will return to its rightful place in its rightful shape.
