About Victoria Hall

Located at the centre of Sir Titus Salt’s historic village, Victoria Hall was opened in 1871 as place of recreation, culture and learning for the local community. Today, the building, managed by Shipley College on behalf of the Salt Foundation, is a nationally renowned venue for all occasions that is still very much in keeping with Sir Titus’ vision. Many local events are regularly hosted here, including the CAMRA Beer Festival, Day of Dance and last weeks Saltaire Festival, to name but a few.

In addition to the 5 elegant rooms to hire, including the Main Hall with sprung dance floor and impressive 10 metre high ceilings, Victoria Hall offer a wide range of services including catering & refreshments, event management and event preparation.

2007: Victoria Hall's approval to conduct civil ceremonies

Stacey Clarkin, the Manager of Victoria Hall was overjoyed at the news. “We are very proud to be the first and only venue to conduct legal, non-religious civil ceremonies in Saltaire. The building is at the heart of the village and its surrounding communities and is the perfect location and setting for such a special day. Demand for this service has been so high that we have had provisional bookings for months in the hope that our application would be granted!”

For one hopeful couple, John Pegington and Mary Chapman, the opportunity to get married at Victoria Hall was too good to miss, having met each other in the Hall at the annual Day of Dance event in 2003. John, formerly from Saltaire but now living in Manchester said “It is really lovely to be able to get married in the place where we met. The building holds such history for me; right back to visiting when I was at school, but most importantly, meeting Mary!”

The civil marriage and civil partnership ceremonies are available in addition to the very popular wedding reception packages ensuring that couples can now enjoy the whole of Victoria Hall throughout their special day. The front lawns and steps into the hall make a perfect setting for wedding photograph opportunities, with Roberts Park and the River Aire only a few minutes walk away.

Local residents and Saltaire enthusiasts are very happy to see that bookings at the Hall have tripled since 2003, since Shipley College took on the role as managing agents, and is continuing to thrive following an extensive refurbishment last year. Improvements to the building, facilities and accessibility have ensured that the Hall can be used and enjoyed by all, with visitor numbers increasing year on year.
