Dave Shaw, for the Saltaire History Club writes: The next meeting of the Saltaire History Club is this Thursday 3 Dec, 7 – 9 PM, in Saltaire Methodist Church, Saltaire Rd, BD18 3HJ. All welcome!
We have a busy programme for our Christmas-time meeting, and we are welcoming back two speakers who’s associations with the study of Saltaire history go back a long way.
Our first speaker is Eugene Nicholson. Eugene was for many years involved with Bradford Industrial Museum, and in that capacity helped many Saltaire historians develop their researches. At our Club meeting Eugene’s talk is about a former Salts Mill worker who made it to the Eurovision Song Contest! “Salts Mill to Eurovision” is a journey well worth hearing about!
Our second speaker is Dr Andrew Wilson of Bradford University. Andrew was involved in the Saltaire Living History Project, and for more than 10 years now has been a local resident in our community. His academic work is highly respected, and Andrew will be describing a possible project that the University are considering involving cutting edge technology: “3D Scanning of Saltaire”. Could be an eye-opener!
Last but not least, we’ve allowed time for some festive fun, with Colin’s Christmas Quiz.
Hope very much that you can join us for what promises to be a great evening (and it’s still free!)
Best wishes
Dave (Shaw) for Saltaire History Club
