NIGHTSTOP IN NEED
Bradford Nightstop has been established for nearly fourteen years and has helped over eight thousand young people by providing safe overnight accommodation in the homes of trained and vetted volunteers. Saltaire, with its good public transport links, is an ideal position and until recently there was a host home in the Village. The departure of the hosts in question left a gap which Nightstop are anxious to fill. Project Co-ordinator Bev Johnson told the Sentinel: "Essentially, we need new volunteers able to give about three hours at a time during the day from their own home to answer telephone calls on our behalf. These calls are made by professionals and our volunteers take details about a young person in order to make a risk assessment of the suitability of that young person to stay with one of the hosts we have available on that night. Our telephone volunteer then contacts our host and ensures the young person can get to the host by taxi, bus or train."
Full training, support and expenses are available. For an informal chat, Bev can be reached on 01274 776888 or at admin@bradfordnightstop.org.uk
