SEEING THE STORY IN ART AND EVENTS

Pictures from the extensive and impressive Methodist Church Collection of Modern Christian Art, will be on exhibition at Saltaire Methodist Church from September 8th to October 22nd. The collection, begun in the 1960s, consists of over forty original works.

PAINTINGS
It includes work by Graham Sutherland, Elizabeth Frink, Mark Cazelet, Edward Burra and Eric Gill.
The exhibition will be open (admission free) at the following times: Saturdays, 10am-4pm; Sundays and Tuesday to Fridays, 2-4pm.

The exhibition forms the centre piece of a varied programme of ecumenical events, under the heading Seeing the Story. As well as prayer, Bible studies and worship there will be concerts and other performances, making use of local church venues. For example, Christian drama group the Wayfarers will present Responding to Suffering at St Paul's, Kirkgate on October 14th, the Aire Valley Singers will be Singing With Passion in a special concert at the United Reformed Church on September 30th and John Froud will be Singing Stories at Saltaire Methodist Church on October 5th (all at 7.30)

An exciting Schools Programme will involve workshops in association with Cartwright Hall Art Gallery and there will be a seminar for young people, hosted by Shipley College.
