CHOIRS NOT QUIET
SOME SERIOUS SACRED STUFF FOR LENT
Easter approaches and the churches of our area will be upholding the fine choral music tradition which is so much a part of our local heritage.
SERVICE
At St. Paul's parish church in Kirkgate, Shipley, choral music by Mozart, Tchaikovsky and Leighton will play an important part of a special service (not concert) of Prayers and Readings for Passiontide at 6.30pm on Sunday, April 2nd with Edward Scott bringing his expertise to the organ. There will also be a particularly religious feel to the proceedings when the region's own favourites, Aired Valley Singers, perform Lox Eternal as part of their choral concert in the church on the eleventh of the month.
VISITORS
The Choral Scholars of Kings College, Cambridge, one of the finest choirs in the land, will be visiting the United Reformed Church again in what is their only concert in our area during their present tour. The church's own choir, conducted by their musical director and accompanied by guests, will once again perform the much loved 'Olivet' by Maunder on Palm Sunday, April 10th. Admission to this is free, there being a retiring collection for charity.
