QUICK RESPONSE TO CLEAN-UP CALL

Over the past few months there has been fly tipping of black bin bags and boxes in the grounds of the Almshouses at the top of Victoria Road, which has been a real eyesore, writes Roger Clarke. One Friday afternoon last month I used the Council's free and direct phone link at the Shipley Information Centre, next to the Library, to report it. By 10.30 am on the following Monday the site was cleared. Remarkable efficiency by anyone's standards. The Council has new powers to act on waste from takeaways and other fast food outlets.
