Letter from the Editor - Help for the Healthy

The Saltaire Sentinel enjoys a healthy, heterogeneous readership making it the ideal vehicle for the circulation of announcements, opinions and, of course, news. It is not entirely by coincidence that this issue, the first of the year, draws particular attention to the value placed on readers' contributions by the publication that claims to be "The Paper By The People".

A further function of the Sentinel which should not be overlooked is that of preserving for posterity a picture of life in Saltaire today; which can only be worthwhile if it is honest, accurate and genuine in its origin.

In short, the Community Newspaper needs to be, and be seen to be, yet more of a community initiative. To which end, help is seriously needed not only with copy but with physical production and distribution.
