A new Sentinel series, begun last month and to be continued next, researches the history of the shops in Victoria Road.

Local historian, Clive Woods, has supplied the following information, of particular relevance to his own regular column: From 1876, 4 Victoria Road was a printer’s, stationer’s and the home of the newspaper, The Shipley and Saltaire Times, run by Benjamin Allsop. The editor’s six children (four daughters and two sons) were all born there.
