Time frame misleading on Roberts Park Consultation?
On 26 September, the company charged with designing the plans to restore Roberts Park with Lottery money sent us their final plans on the proposed buildings, landscape, planting and the bandstand. This was the "September - October" consultation period for locals to see the plans and give feedback through a questionnaire, which this site put online for HTLA. However, it's now TOO LATE... Saltaire Village Society will be putting MP Philip Davies in the hot seat at a meeting on Monday 24 September at Victoria Hall, Saltaire. Questions will be focusing on plans unveiled earlier this year by the Council to build a bypass around and under the World Heritage village. More>>

Saltairy Tales - the book
Saltairy Tales, illustrated by Deborah M. LawsonLocal writer and musician, Eddie Lawler, has published a new book entitled "Saltairy Tales" which is illustrated in water-colours by Deborah M.Lawson.   Some of the "tales" (which are in verse) are also found in the acclaimed Saltairy Tales musical which premiered at The Saltaire Festival in 2006, but the content is by no means a mere "repeat". Happy Birthday Sir Titus Salt
20th September is the most significant day of the Saltaire year - it marks both the birth of Sir Titus (1803) and the anniversary of the opening of Salts Mill (1853). This was celebrated at the Saltaire History Club, graced by the presence of Denys Salt, great grandson of Sir Titus and his lovely wife, Eva.

Art Treasures in Manchester: 150 years on
6 Oct 2007 – 27 Jan 2008 - Free Admission
Titus Salt was probably the most important employer who organised a trip for his workers to visit the original Art Treasures Exhibition held in Manchester in 1857. A new exhibition running from 6 October to 27 January 2008 will mark its 150th anniversary. More >>
